The Greenwich Concours d’Elegance: A Festival of Speed and Style was this past weekend (June 5th and June 6th) at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park.  The Greenwich Concours d’Elegance is a car show in Greenwich, CT that happens on a yearly basis, and did not disappoint this year!  All proceeds from the Greenwich Concours d’Elegance went to AmeriCares, which sends medicine and medical supplies to needy communities throughout the world.  I actually went on both Saturday and Sunday for a little while, because Greenwich’s Concours d’Elegance is actually made up of two different concours.  For those of you who do not know, a Concours d’Elegance is defined as “a show or contest of vehicles and accessories in which the entries are judged chiefly on excellence of appearance and turnout.”  On Saturday was the Concours Americana, which featured only American made cars.  And Sunday was the Concours International, featuring imported marques.  This year there was even a 3 day regatta of America’s Cup 12-meter yachts… and if I don’t have a weakness for gorgeous cars, then I definitely have a weakness for yachts!

Some of the cars at the Greenwich Concours d’Elegance included pre-WWI brass-era, the grand classics of the late 1920s and ’30s, and such storied marques as Rolls-Royce, Marmon, Pierce Arrow, Lagonda, Cord, Auburn, Packard, Alfa Romeo, and Maserati; and post-WWII cars with big fins, and outsized engines.  There were also sports cars like Indy 500 race cars and motorcycles, though I am not really a motorcycle gal personally.  If you are more of a new car enthusiast, there were also the latest and greatest from Mercedes-Benz, Maybach, Lexus, Jaguar, Volvo, Mini, Land Rover, Smart, Tesla, Bentley, Ferrari, Maserati, Aston Martin, and Bugatti.
