Greenwich, CT Storm of March 2010 – Storm Damage & Aftermath

The March 2010 storm hit Greenwich, CT hard.  We have trees and power lines down all over town.  My heart goes out to those who were killed in the storm, and I hope and pray that all of us get our power back soon.  Here are just a few photos from Cognewaugh Road, which is a crazy, winding, dangerous road even without trees down all over!

Cognewaugh Road

You can see the tree in this photo is actually pulling down the power line here.  The power and cable was out on Cognewaugh for weeks… yes, not days… weeks of no cable – no internet – and no phone service.  And I thought the fact that only AT&T gets cell phone reception on Cognewaugh was bad (yes, even Verizon does not get cell phone reception out here)!

Cognewaugh Road

This was the entrance onto Cognewaugh Road.  Clearly, there was no entering Cognewaugh from this end.  I suppose that there is a good reason that people who live in mid-country and back-country tend to have power generators in their homes.  It seems like all of the people who got back their power in a timely fashion lived closer to town.
