Five Guys Review – Best Burgers in Norwalk

My husband has heard the buzz about Five Guys burgers most of his life, since he grew up in Washington D.C (the birth place of Five Guys).  However, the first time either of us went to a 5 Guys was today when we were driving through Norwalk, CT.  Upon entering the burger joint, the cashier could tell that we were newbies and explained the whole system to us.  My first reaction, before even tasting the food, was that the employees were especially outgoing, helpful and warm (something that the Ohio-girl in me LOVES!!!) and the restaurant looked very clean (always a plus!).  Then after hearing about their ordering system, I was even further impressed.  You can get as many toppings on your burger as you want… everything is included… no nickel-and-diming at this joint!  I got a one patty burger with mushrooms, caramelized onions, tomatoes, pickles, lettuce and of course extra cheese.  We could not decide between getting regular fries or spicy fries, so we did what the fabulous cashier suggested and got regular fries with the spice mixture on the side.  We were then told that we could snack on some peanuts while we waited for our burgers – genius!  How much are peanuts in their shells?  Not expensive.  But it is the little things like that (especially when you are starving) that really makes a place stand out.  Within about 5-10 minutes our order was ready.  Check out this burger:

So how was the burger?  Delicious!  Perfectly cooked meat, delicious cheese and fresh toppings… all on a perfect bun.  The only “chain” burger that I like more is In-N-Out burger… but it does not look like they will be coming to the east coast anytime soon.  The fries were good… though nothing super special.

Here are the fries with the 5 Guys spicy fry mixture, which was interesting:
