Brasil International Cafe Review- Brazilian BBQ in Portchester, NY
Having a Brazilian husband, you better believe that we try every Brazilian restaurant that we find! And it is hard to argue with that since nobody knows how to make meat like the Brazilians! Greenwich, CT does not have much in terms of Brazilian food, but drive a few minutes to Port Chester, and it is becoming like a Little Brazil! Brazil International Cafe is a little “hole in the wall” restaurant that caught our eye one evening on 103 Adee Street (Tel: 914-939-1002). The Brazil International Cafe is a combination of a Brazilian Bakery, Brazilian Buffet and a Brazilian BBQ. They do well… so well in fact that they recently opened up a Brazilian grocery store on the main street in Port Chester. Apparently, they are going to have a Brazilian butcher there selling Brazilian cuts of meat, which I am very excited to explore!

Upon entering, it looks like a Brazilian cafeteria… if you are looking for ambience, do not come here! However, if you are looking for amazing prices and delicious food, then this is the place for you! We opted for the Brazilian buffet for our first visit, which you pay for by the pound. Here is a photo of one of my favorite dishes, which is a Brazilian BBQ meat and bean dish. The meat was fall-apart-in-your-mouth tender, perfectly seasoned and very satisfying.

One of my favorite side dishes was their fried yuca. Look at the texture on the breading… great crunch… and if you haven’t ever tried yuca, give it a try!

If you are not familiar with Brazilian cuisine or culture, the popular soda to order is called Guarana, and the taste is very hard describe, but Guarana is a type of berry. I cannot imagine anyone not liking Guarana soda, so try it out and prove me wrong… if you don’t like it, let me know… and I will classify you as totally crazy

And what would a meal be without dessert? We can never go to a Brazilian restaurant without trying their Brigadeiro, a Brazilian chocolate truffle dessert. I took a photo with the cap of a water bottle in it so that you could get a feel for the massive size of this places Brigadeiro!

If you have never had a Brigadeiro, the outside is usually covered in chocolate sprinkles but the inside is a gooey chocolate / caramel filling like this:

However, as usual, my husband said that nobody’s Brigadeiro holds a candle to mine… awww how sweet is he??? If you want to try making it on your own, it is really very simple. Here is my recipe (with a video made by me!) on how to make your own: Brigadeiro Recipe.
